“We Going for Gold!” Barbados Lottery Partners with the Barbados Olympic Association in Support of 2020 Olympic Games




Bridgetown, Barbados – July 25, 2019: The Barbados Lottery has once again signaled its ongoing commitment to national development with the launch of the ‘2020 Olympic Games’ and the ‘Going for Gold’ Instant Scratch Ticket (IST) game, in partnership with the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA). The launch took place on July 24, 2019 at Barbados Olympic Association.

The goal of the ‘Going for Gold’ IST initiative and campaign is to raise funds in support of Barbadian athletes aiming to compete in the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. Mr. Patrick Clunis, Account Development Manager of IGT Global Services Ltd./The Barbados Lottery pledged to hand over the proceeds from the Instant Scratch game in April next year, ahead of the Olympics (to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020).  All beneficiaries of The Barbados Lottery will benefit, including the Barbados Cricket Association, Barbados Olympic Association, Barbados Turf Club and the National Sports Council.

“We are encouraging all Barbadians to try their luck at this game, in support of our nation’s athletes,” said Shelly-Ann Hee Chung, Site Operations Manager at The Barbados Lottery. “We have been passionate supporters of the BOA over the years, ensuring that our Olympic athletes are equipped and ready to perform at the highest level. This is an amazing opportunity for our players to benefit, whilst cheering our athletes along on their Olympic journey.”

Players will have the opportunity to win up to BD$20,000 on the Going for Gold Instant Scratch game, which offers eight chances to win on each ticket. Distribution of this fun, easy-to-use game, with a price point of $3, will begin on July 29, 2019. 

At the launch, Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Teruhiko Shinada joined with BOA and IGT Global Services officials in a special flag raising ceremony, and expressed his support during his brief remarks.
